Add images and media safely to questions and answer options
Reuse organization media, choose supported image formats and alignment, preview rendering, and distinguish author media from respondent upload questions.
Before you start
Sign in as a quiz author. Start with a quiz you own, because editing, importing, publishing, and assignment actions reject users who do not own that quiz.
Work through the product
In the question editor, attach PNG, JPEG, GIF, or WebP images to a question, reuse an organization-scoped asset, and choose left, center, or right alignment. Picture Choice options can use stored image assets; Text/Media blocks place explanatory text or images on a page. Preview before publishing. File Upload accepts configured file types for manual grading, while Diagram Upload is a Premium-or-above image response graded by a vision-capable AI provider and requires a reference description or image.
- Every question image has a Description / alt text field in the question editor. Describe in one short sentence what the image shows for someone who cannot see it; the same field edits it later.
- Leave that description empty when the image only decorates a question the text already explains. An empty description is a deliberate choice that lets assistive technology skip the image, not a field somebody forgot.
- A Picture Choice option with a caption is announced by that caption, so its image needs no separate description. An option with no caption is announced only as a generic picture-choice label, so caption every image-only option whose content matters.
- A description stays with its question through preview, taking, results, duplication and export/import, so it does not have to be written again wherever the question travels.
Expected result
Questions and options reuse organization-scoped image assets, retain their chosen alignment, and render consistently in author preview and the respondent experience.
Limits, privacy, and control
Use only images you are permitted to share and avoid personal or secret data. Author images accept PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP; respondent file uploads remain subject to server type, size, and storage limits.
Troubleshooting
If a control is unavailable, confirm that you own the quiz, have the required organization role, and are within the current plan limits. Save the current tab before moving on, then preview the quiz with a test response before inviting respondents.
