Help guide #5

Import and export questions or complete quizzes

Select the right file path, interpret preview errors and warnings, handle duplicate titles, and understand what a round trip preserves.

Before you start

Sign in as a quiz author. Start with a quiz you own, because editing, importing, publishing, and assignment actions reject users who do not own that quiz.

Work through the product

In an owned quiz, use Import questions for CSV or plain text and confirm only after the preview validates fields. From Dashboard, Export quiz creates a versioned .quiz.json package with settings, questions, pages, text/media blocks, and referenced media; importing previews the package and requires a unique title. FlexiQuiz import and export use their dedicated mapping previews and can warn or skip unsupported content.

Expected result

The preview identifies invalid or duplicate content before persistence, and the confirmed import creates a new quiz that can be reviewed without altering the source file or source system.

Limits, privacy, and control

Inspect every preview warning and keep a copy of the original export. Imported files are data, not authority: ownership, plan limits, validation, and duplicate-title checks still apply.

Troubleshooting

If a control is unavailable, confirm that you own the quiz, have the required organization role, and are within the current plan limits. Save the current tab before moving on, then preview the quiz with a test response before inviting respondents.
